FROM OBSERVATIONS IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE CANTERBURY DISTRICT.
1849. —Total of fine days 264, Cloudy 29, Showery 20, Rain 52, N.E. winds 177, N.W. 64, S.W. 104, S.E. 20, 1850.—Total of fine days 245, Cloudy 37, Showery 40. Rain 43, N.E. winds 189, N.W. 64, 5.W.'109, S.E. 3. N.B. These observations extend over both night and day, so as to note the average state of the weather. In 1849 and 1850, during the summer months the rain above noted fell principally at night time ; which circumstance may explain the total resnlts for 1851, though during it the weather has been generally cousidered unusually inclement.
