HP HE Commissioner, under the Ordinance -*- of Council, Session 1, No. 2, purposes on Tuesday the 17th instant, at Akaroa, to investigate publicly the claim-of Mr. George'Hempleman, Whaler, to lands in Banks's Peninsula, which he alleges to have purchased in the month of March, 1837, from certain natives, the then occupiers thereof, and for which full and complete payment was made by him to all the parlies interested, on the 2nd of November, 1839. Parties desirous of purchasing any particular section, may have the same included in the list of those for sale, by making application in writing to that effect, at the offices'of the Association, either at Lyttelton or Christchurch, on or before the 11th day of February next. To give effect to such application it will be necessary to deposit the upset price of each section, viz : — 24.1. for the half-acre section in the Capital, and ]21. the quarter-acre section in the Port Town, at the Union Bank, Lyttelton", to the credit of the Canterbury Association, on or before the same day. THE Lyttelton Church Building Committee invite Tenders for the erection of a portion of the New Church at Lyttelton. The plans and specification may be seen at the Architect's, B.W. Mountfort. Esq., London Street, on and after Wednesday, February 4th, between the hours of 10 a.m., and 4 p.m., and Tenders will be received by him until March 1.
