By the establishment of this wharf, a distance of several miles of river will be saved, which will frequently enable vessels to save a tide, and make more speedy trips, while it will add one mile only to the carting. A proper pier has been erected, so that goods can be landed at any state of the tide without any risk of damage, and placed under shelter in a commodious warehouse. Small parcels forwarded to their address in or near Christchurch, in Mr. Beeesford's Spring Cart, as soon as they arrive at the Wharf.
