CORRESPONDENCE.

To the Editor of the Lyttelton Times.

Sir, —Having- to attend' a funeral on Wednesday last as bearer, I, as well as the rest, felt it very inconvenient to proceed in anything like order, on account of the road to the Cemetery being so unlevel, and which, after a shower of rain, must be not only inconvenient but dangerous. I think, Sir, that as one and all are liable to have to pay for an interment, it is right that there should be a safe road or path made. The expense of the same would not amount to much, but would be a great accommodation to the public.

I remain, Sir, yonr obedient servant,

R, H. G

_ To the Editor of the Lyttelton Times. Sin,—Through the medium of yuuvJoiirii.il, allow me to call the attention of the Authorities to the state of our principal Street, (Norwich Quay). All the filthy refuse of the different houses along the beach is allowed to remain stagnating- in the roadway, without its being perceived that at this time of the year a putrid atmosphere and consequent mortality are th« inevitable lesults. Surely with the sea so contiguous as a purifying reservoir for this nuisance, some economical system of under-ground drainage might be devised and carried out, and thus prevent the fearful consequences which must otherwise inevitably ensue. • I.
