Instructions were given to the Secretary to apply to Mr. Godley for the grant of a site'for an engine-house, a plan and specification of which "building Mr. Fitzgerald undertook to obtain. It was resolved to acquaint Mr. Smeaton, the engineer, that before the Committee could accept his tender, they must have from him drawings and specifications of every part of the engine in detail. Some inquiries were also agreed to le set on foot, as to the best and cheapest way of obtaining ladders, axes, &c, and the cooper who had tendered for the supply of buckets was to be requested to attend their next meeting.

According, on Monday last, Mr. Fitzgerald laid before the Committee a plan of a building, for an engine shed and fire-office, which it was estimated would cost about forty pounds. A communication from Mr. Godley was read, in which he stated that he had instructed Mr. Cridland to meet any person appointed by the Committee, and lay out a site for building upon. Mr. Rouse, the cooper, attended ; and on the committee informing him that they thought his tender too high, and Mr. Alport offering to supply him with rope at invoice price, he consented to reduce his charge; upon which orders for 50 of the 100 buckets were given. It was resolved toHnvite tenders for a building, ladders, &c, as will be seen by an advertisement in this paper. A very systematic division of the inhabitants into Fire Brigade Companies, has been made by Mr. Fitzgerald.
