Christchuxch College, Canterbury Settlement, and the Collegiate Grammar School. IT is thought advisable to state publicly the arrangements in course of being made with respect to the College and Grammar School of the Canterbury Settlement. Both departments will be conducted at Lyttelton, until sufficient funds shall have been provided for the erection of permanent buildings on the College estate. Temporary LectureBooms have been prepared for the Students of the College, and are now ready for use. An apartment in the same building, and under the same general superin ten dance, has also been set apart for a Grammar School. The Junior Department, or Grammar School, is intended for boys between the ages of 7 and 17 ; the Upper Department, or College, for young men above the age of 17. The Terms are as follows : —For Stndents of the College, £12 per annum, to be paid in advance: for Scholars of the Grammar School, 8 guineas per annum, to be paid half-yearly in advance, together with £1. per annum in the higher classes, and 10s. per annum in the lower, for the use of books, of which a large supply has been provided. These payments are to be made to the account of the Treasurer of the School and College Fund, at the Bank, Lyttelton. Several Scholarships and Exhibitions, to be held by Students of the College, have been founded, and will be open to public competition as soon as the lands with which they are endowed shall be duly conveyed, and the proceeds of them made available. ©fee ©olltsc. Music, Drawing, and the Elements: of Land-Surveying, will form part of the course of instruction in the School. The College Lectures will commence on the 1 lth of June (Wednesday in Whitsun Week). The advantages of instruction at the College and Grammar School, will be open to all residents in the town and neighbourhood of Lyttelton, and parents residing at a distance, who may wish to avail themselves of it, may make what arrangements they'please for the Board and Lodging of their sons. But, at the same time, it has been thought expedient to give facilities for the reception of a limited number of Boarders by the Rev. H. Jacobs. Arrangements are in progress for this purpose, which will be finally completed about the Ist of August next. Students of the College, as well as pupils of the Grammar School, will be received. The former will have each a separate room. Terms of Board and Lodging, (exclusive of the School and College Fees, mentioned above,) for Students of the College, 50/. per annum, for Junior Pupils, 35/. per annum, to be paid halfyearly in advance, to the account of the Rev.
