Little of interest has occurred during the past week, except the sale of surplus stores on Thursday by Mr. Alport, under the direction of the Canterbury Association. We understand that these stores (chiefly received per " Travancore,") realised fully as high prices as at former sales of the same kind, with the single exception of flour, which did not rise above 17s. per 100 lbs., although of good quality. The articles of butter and coffee may be noticed as having fetched very nearly the present retail prices of the Port. The schooner " Salopian," recently arrived from Wellington, has this week changed hands, having been purchased by W. H. Webb, Esq., one of the passengers by the " Travancore," for the sum of £470. We believe she is still intended to run as a coasting vessel between this and the other ports of the Islands. The " Salopian" may be called the Flag Ship of the Lyttelton fleet. Friday Night.—We have just read a paragraph in the " Wellington Independent," of the 23rd instant, expressing great anxiety for the fate of the " Castle Eden," which sailed from this port on March the Bth, for Nelson, and has not since been heard of. At this late hour we cannot obtain the names of the passengers. We believe she had but one or two besides Dr. Hay lock and his two sons. We do not, however, share the great anxiety expressed by the " Wellington Independent." It is very likely that the " Castle Eden " may have missed the bay in the late heavy weather, and may have run on to Sydney. We hope and expect this will be found to be the case.
