AUCKLAND,
This Day. The ship Waimate arrived from London, on Saturday, after a lengthy passage of 114 days. The vessel ar-
rived in excellent order, and the health officer gave her a clean bill of health. One death occured on the voyage — A. M. McKenzie, son of Lord Mc Kenzie, who vvas on his vvay ont to settle here. Oswald Hirtzog, whose premises were burnt down in Hobson-street, a shorttime aa:o. has been arrested at O ' Napier, on the charge of defrauding the National Insurance Company, it having been discovered that at the time of the fire his property was not worth more than £70, and his claim was £274. A man named Purcell has been arrested on the charge of larceny of clothing from an undertaker, on Saturday night. It is considered a most impudent robbery, as robbing an undertaker is next door to robbing the dead. The volunteers mustered in strong force this morning, to receive the Auckland and Thames xepresentativers from Wellington. The Mayors of Auckland and Thames read addresses of congratulation on behalf of the citizens. Greneral enthusiasm prevailed. A banquet is to be held to-night.
