TE AWAMUTU.
This day. A fire occurred yesterday which destroyed half the township. A strong wind was blowing at the time, and nothing could be done to arrest the progress of the flames. There were several narrow escapes from being burnt alive, Insurances £5,000. Lewis' loss is fully £1500 above the insurance. The cause of the fire is unknown.
