A bi-centenary of a curiouskind was recentlv celebrated at Amsterdam, KJ 7 being 110 less than the celehration of the inventioii of the thimble. It is just two centuries since last Oetober that the first Europeaa thimble was made by Nicholas van Renschoten, a young goldsmith., who devised the article for the protection of the finger of his lady love, Mdme von Reusselar, for thimbles, like many grater things, owe their origion to Dan Oupid. The publicans' Paradise isat Yenice. Those who growl at the restricted honrs of sale will be mad with envy to learn that the great cafe of Yenice — Florian's on the piazza of St. Mark has never been closed, night or day, for one hundred and fifty years.
