AUCKLAND,
Thi s Day. An accident happened at the Auckland Sugar Company's works, Northcote, yesterday. A man named Micheal 1) uffin f ell down the hydraulic lift and is severely injured about the back and legs. Mr William Dowden, the well-known auctioneer, died suddenly, yesterday, while sitting in a chair in his office talking to his wife. It is supposed that the cause of his death is heart disease. An inquest is being held. Another accident occurred yesterday, Mr Joseph May was out driving in a buggy when the horse took fright and bolted, he was thrown out, and picked up insensible. A fire occurred yesterday afternoon, at the shop of Mr Hellaby, butcher, Shortland street, through a barrel of lazuer being upset. The fire was soon extinguished. The damage is about £50, but is covered by insurance. William Sheehan was again brought up, and remanded until next Wednesday, to give him time to prepare his defenee. A lunatic escaped from the Asylum and was caj)tured in Queen street.
