New South "Wales has not yet replied, and it is understood here that the New Zealand Government generally objects to Lord Derby's amendments to the draft bill. Mi Sargood, the Defenee Minister, has approved of the proposal to invite Royal Navy officers to offer for service in connection with the local defences.
