Multum in pqrro. Wednesday, March 11th 1885. The harvest throughout the Hawke's Bay distriot is said to have been good. A hundred Christchurch shopkeepers have agreed to close on Thursday afternoons. The s.s. Douglas is hard and fast on the Opotiks kar, and is unlikely to get off this week. Mr Stuart, Fremier of New South Wales, arrived at Auckland in the s.s. Manapuori on Monday. The Wesleyans intend presenting the Rev Mr Slade with a testimonial previous to his departure from this district. A charcoal estahlishment in New Plymouth will next month be employing thirty men in cutting and burning wood. Pour handsome silver cups which are to be given as prizes at the f orthcoming . regatta, are now cn view in Mr Maxwell' s shop window. Mrs Levett, of the National Woman's Temperanee Union, of America, delivered an address on Temperanee, at the Wesleyan Church, last evening, which was largely attended. Bagnall Brothers' mills at Turua, Thames, were insured for £1,000 in the New Zealand Office, but the damage is estimated to be much greater. About forty men are deprived of employment. Messrs Bagnall purpose re-building without delay.
