Marcli 4. General G-rover Cleveland was installed as President of the United States, of America, to-day. An engagement with the rehels under OsmanDignan is expectedto take place on the 20th inst. The German Government intend to colonise that portion of New Guinea recently annexed hy them. The Russians have eeased from further eneroachments in Afghauistan, and have heen directed to avoid any c onflict with the natives. Earl Granville has approved >f the action of Sir Peter Lumsden, the British Commissioner, in advising the Afghans to resist. Rassia professes a paeific attitude in the inatter. S hould any of Murdoeh's cricketing teani visit England next year, they will he excluded from the Lords and Oval Grounds, and prohably from Nottingham.
