This Day. Still another fire occurred yesterday afternoon, in a building occupied by the Auckland Fish and Oyster Coy.,
Albert-street. The whole of the upper story was burned, in which was stored £300 worth of cane belonging to Mr Gole, basketmaker. There was. no insurance. The total loss is about £600. Sir G-eorge Grrey will accompany Mr Eroude and Lord Elphinstone to to the Hot Lakes. A great sensation was caused here last night. William Mclnstry, a wellknown commission agent cut his throat with a razor. The body was found in a gully on the Surry hills estate. No cause cau be assigned for the rash act. An inquest will be held to-day. At the quarterly meeting of the licensing committe, city east, yesterday, the chau-nian Josoph Newman, intimated that the committee wouldrefuse to grant several licenses to several
houses in fchat district. It is not known yet what hotels will be elosed, the meeting having been adjourned to Monday next. The matter is causing a profound sensation amongst the pulicans. A large number of people left here for Dargaville this morning, to attend the races that are to be held there tomorrow. It is expected that the races will be well contested. Another large number of excursionists arrived here to-day from Taranaki. Auckland is now full of them, and more are to come.
