A Press Association message says: — "The advance of the Mahdi on E1 Metemmeh is causing great anxiety" Tlie rebels are enclosing Abuldia ; wells, and the troops under Major General Buller are entrencking theirs. A proclamation bas been issued by tbe Queen stopping all on active service from joining the reserve, and embodying the militia for garrison duty. Queensland meat preserving Coy have reeeived large orders for provisions, for the Soudan. February 22. Sir Gerald Graham and his staff and Grenedier Guards embarked to-day for Soudan.
