MiClhim in parro. Monday Febeuaey 23rd, 1885 Thi Native Minister has promised Te Pokiha (Pox) that he wjll visit Maketu about the month of April. The Native Lands Court opens at Maketu to-day- Paengaroa, Kaituna, and Pukaingataru blocks are to be brought before the Gourt. Two apples ve'ghing 23oz were left at our offiee on Saiurday. They were grown by Mr T. Saunders. Hurham Street. The Tichborne claimant, not having proved a success as a lecturer in England, intends to try his luck in the United States. We were informed that two boys the S( 'Ti s of Mr S . Martin were seriously injured throiigh a cart capsizing on the Te Puke road. As far as we can learn they are not so bad as was reported, for they rode into Tauranga on horseback to day. Dr G. Johnson lately toid the British Medical Assoeiatioii of a patient of his, " 55 yearsold, who hadlived upon milk diet for five years. He took a gallon ! of milk a day, but not a partiele of any j other food. This treatment cured him I of Bright's disease. The following letter was left at our offiee, we suppose for publication : — "Who is the party who when he lost £45 on last Eegatta-day, gave the finder oue shilling , but when a friend of his found a purse containing £17 was not satisfied at anythtng less than £2. A Fathee." A light four-oared skiff, named the Pearl was launehed to-day from the building yard of Mr E. Calloway. The skiff is sixteen feet long with a beam of four feet, and is intended for the forthcoming regatta, and if one may speak from appearances she ought to be able to go. She was built to the orderof J. F. Maxwell. What might have been a serious ■ aceident occurred on the Te-Puke road on Saturday. Mr Yickery and another were comin,? into Tauranga in a dray when the horse shied and went down the cutting. Had the horse not kept straight there is ne doubt that someone would have been hurt. The fence at the foot of eutting had to be taken down before they could proceed.
