This Uay. The Hinemoa arrivedfrom Waiwera yesterday, with Sir Julius. Yogel. Great preparations are being made for the public meeting tomorrow night. A man named Jarnes Allison is reported to be missing, he left the Britomart Hotel on the 6th inst. and has not been heard of since. Only about 150 availed themselves or the cheap excursion to the Waikato on Saturday, and is not eonsideied yery satisfactory. At the inquest on Saturday, on the body of Thiers, the jury returned the following verdiet: "that deceased committed suicide by taking rat poison while of unsound mimi" with the rider that mere stringent measures should be adopted re the sale of 'Rough on rats" . The Rowing Associatien's regatta on Saturday, was not sueh a success as was expected, several events had to be postponed.
A fatal accident happeded at the City Baths on Saturday, to a young managed 18, named Sitneon O'Brien son of Mr O'Brien, contractor. The young man dived head first off the platform into four feet of water, and struck his head on the bottoin causing concuRsion of the spine.he died shortly after. An inquest is being held to-day. A little chiid the son of Mr Thornas Murray, Avondale, was brought to the Hospital on Satu r'ay for treatment suffering from carbolie acid poisoning. The chiid had got hold of a bottle of carbolie acid and drunk souie of it. The chiid was actended by Dr Bond but died late on Saturday night.
