LONDON, Februarv 4. A Telegram has been received from Lord Wolsely stating that the Mabdi has captuiod Khartoum through tbe treachery of General Gordon' s followers, and that General Gordon is probablv a prisoner. Furtber iutelligence bas been received showing tbat Khartoum fell on tbe 26th of January. Sir Cbarles Wilson with a detaehment oi the Royal Sussex Regiment, arrived at Kbartoum by steamer from E1 Metemmb on the 28th ultimo, and found tbe city occupied by the enemy, and he forthwith returned but under heavv fiie from the river banks. The steamer was afterwards wreeked below Shehukuli cataract, all on board were saved and landed on an Island, to which a steamer has been sent to the rescue of the survivors. The fate of General Gordon is as yet uncertain. It is stated that an agreement has been concluded between the British and Italian Governments, under which Italy will help England to establish a Government in the Soudan, and will shortly occupy Massowah and perhaps 8uakim. A Fenian has been arrested whilst embarking at San Fransisco for Australia, it is believed with the intention of blowing up the Australian prisons with dynamite.

The Governors of the various French Golonies ha-* e received direetions to enforce the provisions of the Foreign Enlistment Aet in their respeetive Colonies. The Forees thus raised are intended for seryice in China. The English Press deplores the concessions recently made by the British Cabinet, and which. practically have the effect of reviving dual control in Egypt.
