Multum in parvo. Tuesday, February 3rd 1885 The s.s. Katikati has gone to Tairua. Upwards of 50 saloon passengers arrived per s.s. Wellington to-day. The maize crop along the coast is looking first class. The Governor will shortly visit the West Coast. The Wellington District Court is to be abolished. A big native meeting is being held at Kihikihi, W aikato, to-day. Mr J oseph Kinsley of the quarteracres has an unusually line crop of tobaeco this season. | The following race-horses arrived to day,Rifleman, per Wellington ; and Lady Musket and Cap-a-pie per Stalfa. Sir Julius Yogel is being requisitioned by the citizens of Auckland to address them, he will probabyl do so ! in about a fortnight's time. ' It is probable that Sir Julius Yogel ; will visit the Hot Lakes of the Rotorua and Taupo districts before his return to ! Christchurch. ; Upwards of twenty tourists left per | Robertson's coach for the Lakes this morning, and two coach loads arrived from there this afternoon. Twenty-three boxes of fruit arrived per Muriel yesterday afternoon from Katikati and are to be forwarded to Auckland, per Wellington to-night. At the Police Court this morning Albert Chadbine was charged with a breach of the "Shipping and Seaman's Act," 1877, by stowing away on board the s.s. Wellington, on her trip from Auckland to Tauranga, and was fined £2 with costs 7/-, and ordered to pay the fare 25/- the above to berecovered by distress, or in default fourteen days imprisonment in Tauranga jail with hard labor. There were several cases j disposed of- at the R.M. Court but they | were of no public interest.
