Mrs Pepperill's stock was insured for 200 in the Norwich Offiiee' and Mrs Tondut'sfor £.30. Mrs Pepperill and daughter, who slept over the shop, were rescued by the Eire Brigade .The fire was occasioned by a defective chimney. Messrs Bracken, Bathgate, and W elland have assumed the proprietorship of the Dunedin Evening Herald.
