This Day. Thomas Brown who was shot in the chest and side by John Brown on Sunday night is progressing as well as oan be expected. H.e is a powerful atheleto and will pull throug unless soinething unforseen happens. Dr Philson coroner, held an inquest at the hospital yesterday, on the body of John Patterson, run over on New Year's day, jury returned a verdiet of accidental death, and eonsidered no blame can be attached to the jockey. The folling rider was added, "The jury is of an opinion that in the event of of the house surgeon and medisal staff being absent from Hospital, any duly qualified medical man shall be at liberty to treat his own case, also the porter deserves censure for the manner in which he treated Dr Evans." About a dozen American men-of-war's-men were reported as stragglers
and a reward offered for their apprehension. 8ome half dozen were eaptured by the police, one made things lively before he was got to the police station, it taking three men to get him there. The ship Lady Jocelyn started to discharge yesterday morning, the cargo is coming out in good condition. A man named John Shiers, who was admitted into the H ospital on Sunday suffering from concussion of the spine, di d yesterday morning.
