LONDON,
December 31. The Erench Chambers and Senate have been prorogued. The name of Lord Agustus Loftus' successor, has been submitted to the Cabinet fortheir approval. In its issue yesterday morning the Daily Telegraph states that Commodore Erskine, commanding the Australian Squadron, has been instructed to hoist the British flag on Louisiade Archipelago, Woodlark Islands, Long Islands, and Rock Island, if any foreign warships threaten annexation in the vicinity of these groups.
