Multum in parvo. Tuesday, December 30th, 1884. The issue of the Liitle TJn will he suspended 011 Thursday (New Year's Day). Advertisements intended for that day should he sent in temorrow. The Musket-Ouida colt was sold at Elerslie, yesterday, for 300 guineas. The Wesley an Sunday-school picnic will take place at Mr .J . Brown's estate on New Year's day. A gas explosion, fortunately unattended hy any serious result, oceured at Garrett Eros, premises, Auckland, on Saturday evening. Owing to the holiday the s. s. Clansman will not arrive here until Saturday next, and leave again for Auckland at 5 p.m. of the same day. On and after the 1st of January, the name of the Post and Telegraph office at Ohinemutu, will he changed to Rotorua. Mr Waddel, mayor of Auckland, and Mr P. A. Phillips, town clerk, arrived per Clansman, this morning, and shortly afterwafds proceeded to Morningside, the residence of Mr Lundon. Dr Hughes, the eminent Preethought lecturer, intends starting a weekly paper in Auckland, to he called"Truth." It will he specially devoted to the advocacy of theological and all scientific questions. — Telephone. Eight fawns and one doe arrived per s.s. Clansman, this morning, for the Tauranga acclimatisation society, They are all well, and are to he liberated, prohahly at the Mount, The s.s. Clansman is to make an excursion to Norfolk Island next month, from Auckland, and promises to he a gaeat success. The fare has been fixed at £8 from Auckland, or £10 from Tauranga, and the excursionists will he away only a week or ten days. The passage from Auckland to the island will occupy about fifty hours,
