Multum in parvo. Friday, December 19th, 1884. This month's numher of Australian Journal, is to hand. Melbourne has been officially declared to be free from small-pox. The Cambridge cheese factory starts operations to-day. The s.s. Kaikorua takes upwardsof £26,000 worth of Gold, from this Oolony to London. A verdict of "Accidental Death" has been returned in the case of the two victims of the railway disaster, at Rangiora. The new telepraph line to Auckland through Taupo and Cambridge, is to be proceed with at once. A cat-show in connection with the Fancy Fair, at the Lorne Htreet Hall, Auckland, is being held to-day. It is rumoured that Sir Dillon Bell intends resigning the Agent- General - ship. It is reported in Dunedin that Mr James Fulton, M. H. R., has returned to the Treasury the sum of £ 1 00, voted to him last session as Chairman of the AFaste Land Committee. rPhere was an unusually large uumber of passengers per Clansman this morning; several of them coming here to spend Christmas with their friends, also quite a host of tourists. The Tauranga route to the Lakes is still the favorite, Mr Robertson had two eoach loads of tourists this morning, and then had to leave some. Professor Hugo's lecture last night, was attended by a fairly large and appreciative audience. The Professor is undoubtedly well up in his prof ession and his delineations of character are very accurate. He will give another lecture on Monday evening, subjeet: "Eyfes and Lips." •
