LONDON,

December 8. The French Senate has rejected the amendments hy the Chamber of Deputies, that the Senate be elected by universal sutfrage. The Investigation Committee of the Consolidated Telephone Company reaffirm that Sir Julius Vogel, one of the Directors, enriched himself hy means of the Company, and have endorsed the "advice of counsel that a law suit be instituted to recover the enormous profits made hy him. News have been received here of the wreck of the steamer Pockhard, near Holyhead, on the north Welsh coast. The crew, numbering thirty, were drowned. The vessel was bound from Cork to Roterdam.
