BOWLING.
On Saturday afternoon four rinks from the Palmerston North Bowling Club visited the local club. The visitors were welcomed by Mr. A. H. Morgan, who assured them that it-was very pleasing to local players to receive visits from Palmerston North rinks, and he felt sure they would spend a very pleasant afternoon. The day was ideal for bowling, and the green was in fair order, considering the continued dry weather. All the games proved enjoyable, being keenly contested, the visitors being the victors on the aggregate by eleven points. .At tho conclusion of the afternoon’s play, Mr. W. E. Jones, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the Club for their hospitality, cheers being given for the players and the Croquet ladies, who provided .afternoon tea. Following are the results of thi) games played, Palmerston North being mentioned first in each instance: — Croucher, Eunis, Croad, W. W. Jones (s) 14 v. McLaggan, Lee, Whibley, Knowles (s) 17. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS CONTEST, :Wotice has. been received from P Mannwatu Centre that the followin' dates have been fixed for the various Champion of Champions contests thi season: — . Singles contest, Manawatu green Saturday, March 10th, 9 a.m. Pairs contest, Terrace End green Saturday, March 17th, 9 a.m. Rinks contest (section finals), Pa 1 merston green, Saturday, March 24P: 9 a.m. In connection with the champin' rinks contest this year tho Executive has decided to cut up the areas in' sections, viz.: No 1, Woodvillc, Dannr virkc, Pahiatua, Eketahuna; No. f Otaki, Levin, Shannon, Foxton; No. Palmerston, Manawatu, Terrace En< Takaro; No. 4, Feilding, Oroua, Nothorn. t ' Numbers 1, 2, and 3 will play on the sudden death principle, while 4 will decide between themselves the ; method of play. The winners of eae' • section will then play off as state above. Communications regarding this mai ter have been 1 received from both Shar non and Levin Clubs. Shannon suggests that the clubs in No. 2 area plans follows:—Shannon v. Foxton; Otaki v. Foxton; the winners to play off. Draw for greens for each game. Le vin suggests that the four clubs concerned meet on the Levin green to decide the district winner.
