SPORTING NOTES.
DANNEVIRKE TO-MORROW. (By Silken Rein). The Dannevirke Racing Club's aut T umn meeting is scheduled to take place to-morrow and Thursday. The acceptances for the first day promise fair fields, while the recent rain will result in a much improved track. Highweiglit Handicap. The first race, the Higlnveight Hack has drawn a field of six. The topweight, Lady Gay, should keep the field busy, but Red Fuschia and Revel will be accorded most support. Maiden Plate, The Maiden Plate has fifteen due to face the starter. Recent running points to Ahalama, Boston and. War Wings as the lies! trio. President’s Handicap. The President’s ‘‘six” should make an interesting race with eleven starters. The top-weight, Crown Area, started once at Woodvilh; for a second place, to Miss Pat. The re-handicap shows Crown Area to be only lib better off, so far as Miss Pat is cocerned and on her running the Acre Lady will have more friends than was the case at Woodville. Epistle and Arrow Lad wore prominent over the early stages of the Autumn Handicap (mile and adistauce), the former sticking it out very well to run into third place. Six furlongs should suit this pair much bettor. Dobbin proved too good for Coot at Pahiatua, but the latter is 81b better off on this occasion. Cosmetic reads well at 8.0, and though in with a faster lot than those she boat at Woodville, the daughter of Leighton will keep “cm” busy. Kihnoyler and Lin Arlington are possibilities, more particularly the former, while tin* bracket, March On and Birkio, have only outside chances, they being regarded as a pair not up to this class. A trio that may bo in the finish are Arrow Lad, Miss Pat and Crown Aren. Tahoraite Hack Handicap. A field of fifteen in the Tahoraite Hack arc a mixed lot. Form points to Discourse, Hypnotic and Tauagra as the trio to carry the money. Dannevirke Cup.
The principal rpce has fifteen runners some of which have other engagements. Oratrix with 8.9 is much fancied and on her Paliiatua and Woodville running she will be hard. Bennanee, if started, will find the track much to her liking and should be prominent in this class. Cohesion and lluikai are a likely pair with recent- winning form. Duke Abbey is a good one and ha/ shown every promise to stay over a middle distance. Novar should not be long in earning a stake as he has been getting closer in each start. Arrow Lad’s mission will probably be the President’s, which distance will suit the Arrowsmith three-year-old better, Perlo de Leon has not raced in New Zealand for some time and has been leniently treated with 7.7. Capitulation and Wilderness are possibilities, while Kilmiss and Twink have outside chances. Oratrix, Duke Abbey, and Bennanee should, find the favourite. Novar, however, is dangerous. Oringi Hack Handicap.
Eleven have fully paid up for the Oringi. Lady Cynthia is coming to form while Silver Tray’s second to Aston at Woodville will not be forgotten. Dreamy and Moa Bird are a useful pair, who* should be prominent. Lady Cynthia, Silver Tray and Moa Bird are the trio most fancied in this event. Rakaiatai Handicap. A field of ten in the Rakaiatai Handicap shows The Swell on the top of the Hist 'With .8.13, Bonhornrae with 8.9. Kilmiss should be prominent over this distance, while Willow War may be ready. Henna is a likely one who with Kilmiss and The Swell'will be fancied. Makirikiri Hack Handicap. The concluding event will be a one divident race. Bruemau has two previous engagements. Panorama and Grand National will be best supported in this event. ROY Ali D.OUIiTON’S BIG MONEY ■AT TE AROHA. MEETING CONCLUDES IN WET WEATHER.
