COLD NIGHT FOLLOWS RAIN.

SNOW ON THE TARAP.UAS, A cold snap accompanied the rain that fell on Sunday night, and yesterday morning, owing to the southerly change. In the clear air that followed, this morning, the Tararuas were seen to nave received a coating of snow on the highest peaks. The temperature last night fell to 33' deg., the lowest point since January 16th, when the exposed thermometer at the Central Development Farm recorded freezing point, 32 deg. On December 3rd the previous lowest reading was observed, also 32 deg. Thus it will be seen that, notwithstanding ranch heat and droughj. the threat of a frost -has never been entirely removed.
