It has been noticed „f late (says an exchange) that the Waihou River has been steadily rising, despite the drought. At one point the water level has risen 15in in ten days. The inference is that the Waikato River at Arapuni has caused filtration through the loose broken country to the Waihou. If this is so. one wonders where the effects of the diversion are going £o end. Should the apparent flow from the Waikato keep the Waihou higher than usual, the stopbnnks of Ohinemhri and tlie drainage of (he Hauraki Plains will bo greatly affected, and it may cause considerable loss.
