QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S PREMIER BAND.
WOOLSTON WINS QUICKSTEP. COUGHLAN CHAMPION OP CHAMPIONS CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The Band Contest -was brought to a close on Saturday when the A Grade Quickstep was decided, also the final of the B Flat Cornet Championship and the competition lor Champion of Champions in thte various solo competitions heard during the Contest, The weather was perfect for the Quickstep and a huge crowd witnessed the brilliant spectacle. The winner of this year’s Dominion Championship is Queen Alexandra’s Own (Wanganui) with Woolston second and Grcymouth third. The Contest has been an unqualified success ,and it is generally conceded it has been one of the best, ever held in the Dominion. Saturday’s results are: — A GRADE QUICKSTEP.
B PLAT cornet championship. T. Goodall (Wellington Tramways) 9S points 1 G. Bergcnson (Queen Alexandra’s 1 Own) 96 points 2 H. P. Vincent (Grcymouth Municipal 1 ) 93 points . . 3 CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS W. P. Goughian (Kaikorai). E Flat bass, 89 points .... 1 E. G. Williams (Woolston) trombone. 88 points "2 R. Simplon (Christchurch Municipal). cornet, S 5 points . 3 CONTEST SHIELDS. Queen Alexandra’s Own takes the Dominion Championship Shield, Bosey Trophy, and Besson and Conn Shields for the band gaining the highest aggregate points in the Test selections and the music In the Quickstep. The Hawke's Shield for the band gaining the highest aggregate points in the Test selections and Quickstep (including drill) goes to Woolston.
