Jackson, of Brisbane, who was Judge of ; the concerted work and of cornet solos championships at the New Zealand contest, which concluded on Saturday, The Australian band to which Mr Jackson referred was the newly formed combination from Hamilton, a small mining town near Newcastle. The first three New Zealand bands which he declared were better than any in Australia save the Hamilton band are Queen Alexandra’s Own (Wanganui), Kaikorai (Dunedin) and Greymouth Municipal.
