LINTON MAN HAS A SECOND. HUNT WINS DOMINION MATCH TRENTHAM, Last Night. Marksmen have had their "pipe" openers and are settling down to keen competition. Weather conditions today have been changeable after heavy rain. There was thick mist on the hills at the completion of the morning shoot but the afternoon events were fought out under excellent conditions, a slight southerly wind blowing across the range not interfering with elevation. The opening match which does not count foi/the Belt was got off and resulted -iji A. Powell, Akarana, securing first prize with a score of JOT. His card read 34-34-33. Barlow (Linton) who was second in the A Grade, iinished with 100 as did Wilesmith (Australia). Johnson (Featherston) headed the B grade with 100, Braithwaito (Napier) being runner-up with a similar total. The tyros' prize was won by Elgar (Hawora) with 98. The Dominion Match.-also, was completed, the winner being H. It. Hunt, of the Suburbs Club, with an aggregate score of 120. The only possible made in the Dominion Match- (900 yards') was P. R. Goldfinch (Old NayalsJ. When the first range of the Marlborough Match was nearing completion there was light rain. The wind had veered to the front. Shooting continued good, although no possibles were recorded. This match will be concluded on Saturday, as will the Auckland Match at 300 and COO yards, ten shots each distance, and the Canterbury Match at 000 yards, ten shots. To-night the sky is leaden and heavy rain is probable. Potter (Dunedin), 48. was the best score in the Marlborough Match short range. ! PRIZE-LIST. | Opening Match (A Grade).
