Victory Fair.

I OPIBN. THIS AFTERNOON. Lovely weather favoured the ladie of St. Andrew's congregation for th opening this afternoon' of the Victor; Fair for which they have all worked s hard during past weeks, and every thing points to a most pleaaant am successful season. Farlandi's No 2 Theatre has treen transformed by def and artistic fingers into a scene reetiv ■and a-ay, all the stalls looking doubl; attractive by reason of the enticinj wares and the attractive display a.nc decoration. « The fancy stall, which is under th< control of Mesdiames R. McDonald anc George and Misses Ho van and Glacken isartistically constructed of pine brain ches and cones, which lend a quainl setting to the van-coloured goods oi which there is a superabundance. Ana ther striking stall, strategically placet at the entrance to the hall and presided fiver by Mrs McLeavey and Misses Kilshy and Nash, carries in a charming setting of heliotrope and lemon, a tempting array of sweets which have the added virtue of being- home-made. A juvenile fancy stall over which Misses Jonn Bevan, Graeie McDonald, Mildredi fiievers and Annie O'Donohue are keeping a business-like eye, makes a fray splash of colour in .another corner of the hall, and will prove a sore temptation to the youthful patrons of the Fair. Equally tempting to careful ihousewives is_ the produce stall, which has an experienced staff in Mesdames Walter Ryder. O'Donohue. Houlihan, I Middleton and Miss T/aurie Ryder. A j particularly fine lot of meat is on sale audi should find easy purchasers. Last ' but not least comes the tea room } wlii<-h occupies the stage of the theatre, and which has for helpers Mesdames Bishop, Atkins, Perkins, and Misses Catlev, Kirivan and Dinan. Mrs W. H. Field, in a- 'happy little sneech, opened the Fair this afternoon in thi enrosenoe of a large Catherine; and good 'business was done subsequently. Among other attractions durino- the Fair is the rnfflincr <yf three goldj nuggets and a handsome screen.
