v .HOYS DODGE CONSTABLE HY SWIM-MING THE RIVER. Two lads, William Burnoll, alias Edward Giles, aged 19 years, and Roy Corrio, aged 15 years, escaped from the Weravoa Training Farm on Wednesday, and made their way to Otaki, where they soon made their presence felt. They entered Mr Flutey's residence at Waitohn and stole boots and clothing, went on to Mr Geo. Marshcll's and helped themselves to more clothing, then stole a pair of new pants and a coat from Mr Goo. Anderson's place. Constable Satlierley was informed and was quickly in hot pursuit, but the lads proved full of running, and made for Hautere Cross, dodging the constable by swimming the river. Constable ■Satlierley followed them some distance, but after wading the water up to his arm-pits turned back, the boys in the meantime making for the hills. They there entered Mr McTnnis' (Fleming's) where t-hev stole a bag and its eontents, biscuits, butter, field glasses, two new .suits, shirts, nox of copper rivets, and a pocket-book. They discarded their own donned Mr McTnnis', and marched. boldh* down the road.
