LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL'S AMENDMENT. COMPENSATION AND « O'CLOCK CLOSING. (Per Press Association). ' Wellington, December 5. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 to-cLiy. 'Hie Cjicensing Amendment Bill was passed through Committee with the exception of the clauses referring to compensation in which the .special committee had made amendments. Those -were postponed, also the clause dealing with 6 o'clock cloning and making it permanent. Sir F. iD. Bell stated his intention of movihjT in committee a new clause continuing 6 o'clock closing till June 3D. 1920 if the determination at the special licencing poll is in favour of National Continuance. Then at the next general licensing poll there shall be suliniitted a separate issue as to whether the restricted hours shall continue. Progress was refjoi'ted on the Bill.
