LEVIN TRAIN SERVICE.
(To the Editor). Sir,—The traveller on tihe Manawatu line between Levin and Palmerston is struck by the fact of the up afternoon Auckland express passing Levin without stopping, but pulling up at Koputaroa in order to pass the down Napier express. As tne afternoon Levin exists at present, there is no connection between Levin and Palmenston from 1.30 till 7.45 p.m., yet the Auckland express runs through between thope hours and stops at Koputaroa. If tihe crossing of the expresses were made at Levin, it would be of the greatest convenience to a large number of the travelling public and/ local residents generally, and aiS it would mean only a few minutes difference in the running of the service, would entail no hardship or sacrifice so far a»= the Railway Department is concerned. The Department is usually willing to meet the travelling public in these matters, and if the alteration I have mentioned were made tlie service would add further to its utility aa a public necessity. I am, etc. TRAVELLER. November 26.
