Tili'-- paper lias not always found, itself in sympathy wil'ili the political views of the deceased 'legislator, but we ha ve been second to none in admiration of his worth as a settler audi his sturdy optimism throughout the recent'; crisis. David Buick was a man of sterling integrity. Hf-- word was ever his bond, and once he had. convinced himself of the righteousness of a line of conduct. 110 amount, of pressure or cajolery could, swerve him from bis appointed course. He was <1 sturdy individualist and a ■sportsman upon whose integrity no Oil" suspicion ever fell. Of late 'be stalwart frame had lost some of its robustness and he lacked his customary vigour, but his cheerful nature was «. constant stimulus to those who were inclined to become despondent in the trials through which this community in common with the naton has passed during I'ihe last few eventful years. He was associated with all the progressive movements of the pioneer days, and such local institutions as the Racing Club, and local A. and P. Association owe much to him for his work and sympathetic interest. Full of years and' honour ho has passed to his rest.
