Decision Must be Reached By Monday
Revolution Spreading in Germany.
Fleet Under The Red Flag.
Reeeived This Day 9.20 a.m. WASHINGTON. November 8. The State Department announces that the German armistice delegates conferred with Marshal Foch at headquarters at 9 o'clock on Friday morning, Paris time. It was found necessary to refer the armistice to Berlin, and seventy-two hours will be allowed for this purpose. ' NEW YORK, November 8. It is definitely stated that Marshal Foch notified the German delegates that they would be given seventy-two hours to reach a decision.
No compromise is possible. The reply must be surrender or no surrender.
The German revolutionaries have cut the railway south of Flensburg, isolating Hamburg. • The German revolt is spreading. Bremen, Tilsit, and Schwerin have joined the revolutionries.
[If the Germans take the full seventy-two hours to make their reply, it will be about 9.30 on Sunday evening (New Zeala- d time) before the result is communicated to Marshal Foch. There is not much chance, in that event, of the news reaching New Zealand before Monday morning. If, however, as is more than likely, the spread of the revolution in 'iermany forces the Government's hands, the result may be known sooner.]
