Borough Council.
| The Levin Borough Council Held a special meeting last Thursday evening, the ordinary meeting having been postponed, from Monday night. Present—The Mayor (in the chair) and Ur« Matheson, Mackenzie, Bull, Lancaster, Parker, Broome, Aitaken and i)r Bryson. The Lands Department <wrotp stating that the apoiatments of the six nominees of the Council on t'he Lake Domain Board would expire on the 10th' inst. and asking that the places be filled. The present remsentatives are the Mayor, Crs and Aitken, Messrs A. Dempsoy and H. B. France and Or Broadbelt, who is a member of the Horowhenua County Council. The Mayor moved that these b© re-appointed. Cr Lancaster seconded the motion. Cr Parker raised the point that it might happen that the Councillors appointed mignt retire from or be defeated for the Borough Council, which would then leave no representative on 'the Board. He enquired whether any jarraiigement could be made to obviate such a position arising. The Major. eaid_ it had happened on n previous occasion that the Council was without representatives on the Board and the nominees of the Council then agreed that, if they ceased to become members of tlie Council, they would at once resign from the Board. They held office on that understanding. T'he motion wias carried.
