Benefit Concert.

A substantial addition was made to the Bolstad benefit fund by A&e oonoert held in Farland'e Theatre on Thursday last when a goodly number assembled to enjoy the programme of music, recitations and pictures. Far land's orchestra rendered valuable giving three selections. Some good dialogues were rendered. One wa» antitled "Jtrefc which Mr» Wif--' .liams and Miss JRita. Farland acted their parts exceedingly well. "A. Domestic Encounter" by Miss and Master Poad was also well received. Songs were acceptably rendered by ffllisß Win. Hie VvAer, Mm BiUeas and the Rev. J- H. Hiafilam and a whistling solo by. Mr Jr. James. Part, songs by four Toun e Maori maids and a duet by the 1 Misses McDonnell completed the musical programme and the remainder of the event:ng to pictures kmdly screened by Mr Farlandl, Ae«' with all "the entertainments in aid of the fund, Miss Bowen'e energy -and enthusiasm were agahiin evidence. At the conclusion of t!he concent Mr •Roe (in the absence of the Mayor) thanked the audience for their the performers for rtiheir 'kindness in a*sisting, and Mr Hayfteld for acting as accompanist. He stated that the Commit teefeU; greatly endabted to Mr Partend for hie generosity and the funds would benefit considerably by that • nigiht s perform ance as there wer© no expenses being deducted whatever. (Ha seated there was over £50 in the ißank :■ drawing interest and that there w#re other concerts coming on. The Committee also deefcre to thank Messrs' Harvey and Co. for' fumiiiwa. lent, the manager of the Training Farm . for tihe supply of flowens for dleooration, Mr Hook for moving the piano and tihe ' Anglican Church for loan of same, also any who have assisted and have not been specially mentioned.
