ASSOCIATION MEETING YESTER- : . DAY. | ' i The annuar general meeting of tlic New Zealand Miffing .Shorthorn Association was held at Palmerston North yesterday, the- President, Mr T. H. YVindlcy, in the chair. There was a fairly representative attendance of members from various parts of the Dominion. ! The president", in his annual report, : stated that 300 new members had been ' added to the roll during the year, bring- ! ing the menibership to 504, and they j had received 0500 entries for Volume ■ 111. of the Herd Book. The finances j wore in a very sound position, and they \ had now £1000 invested in AVar Loan Certificates and £200 on fixed deposit ! with a credit balance of £645 at the j bank. lie referred to the proposals for j forming a N.Z. Federation of Cattle j Breeds' Associations, and urged their j support for same. Ho also l referred to | the increased number of cows that were being idaced- under semi-official test, j and the Association had donated 21gns j as prizes for the beat certificates in the j several classes*. He congratulated the members on the great progress made by | the Association since its inception five | years ago. and tliev wore : in a position both numerically and financially that they might well feel proud of. Ho thanked the Council and the inspecting judges for their, valued assistance •in carrying on the work of the Association. Considerable discussion took place on the motion from Waikato executive that all animals "bo branded. Eventually it was resolyed: "That all a<*<:ept''d animals in future be branded with (ho •, official brand of the Association, and | that it be optional for members to'have ; their cattle already registered in Ihe first three herd books branded or otaerwise." The notice of motion to establish a ; three-year-old heifer championship, to ; be supplemented by a 'sweepstake of the I nomination fees, was, after discussion, ! left in the hands of the Council with a recommendation to draw up proposed : conditions for submission to a future meeting. : The election of officers was then taken. Mr J. Hodges. Itapanui, was elected as president, 'M<"*srs -A. W. ! Green and S. Morgan vice-presidents; ' Council, Messrs ,T. brant, .T. Parkinson, ; E. I,?w, ,T. R. Anderson ,T. Hearsey, D. Btiick.
