A SUCCESSFUL OPENING.
A scene of activity centred in Farland's Theatre from a comparatively early hour this morning in preparation for the opening of Paddy's Market. This function nva« promoted- by the ladies of the Catholic community with the : object of aesisting in the erection of school- on the property reoenrtly acquired by the Catholic body oP Levin. The ladies conceived the iiappy idea of a Paddy's-Market"- and have infused an enormous amount of energy into the undertaking, with the that a large and vajriedl collection of goods-liais-been got together and with competitions, tearooms, etc., should gjo far in I Teaching the end in view. This morning the ladies with willing frende wero busy in.-.getting the stalls ill order. By noon the . work was almost completed and 'with, a liberal scheme of decorations of bunting and greenery, tine anterior fof -the theatre presented a. fine appearance, a glowing - tribute to _ thel: energy, and'taiste pit those responsible. ■The joint secretaries, Miss 08. Sievsra audi Mr J. G'ODonoliue, with the ladies associated with them, are _ deserving of a word of praise for their labours, which it is hoped will be. fully repaid by: - results, • THE STALES, The produce stall.is in charge of Mes- - dames W. and H. Ryder, iDoogaot, O'Donoliue and " the * Mlssee Doogan. This stall presents a.splendid appearance as it is stocked" with a 'great. variety of choice edibles, and in addition there is a stock of prime meat, includiiing pork, lamb, mutton as well as dairy produce of all kinds. . ■ - ■ The sweet stall is tastefully decorated in a pretty combination of colours. It' is also well stocked witlh-a rare oollecr tion of dainties that will' not. fail to find ready purchasers, some of the goods-be-ing arranged in neat baskets. In addition some raffles wi'll be conducted at • the stall which is in' charge of MissflP .Nash, Rilsby, Sievers and Middleton. ■ Tihle calces and -flowers always farm, a useful stall and "Misses Kelleher; ana Ha.nnan, who have charge of this department" have an excellent variety of goods, and should not lack, patrons. ' Mass Prouse is tilue official fortuneteller and will take, peeps into the future for anyone dasiiing to lift the veil.. -Misses Joan' Bevan,," Millie -' Sievera and Grace McDonald wIL conduct the . fish pond* . Hie fancy stall 4s in charge of Mrs H. George -and Misses Glackin and Middleton.
