Evidence was given to the effect that the lamp was taken -from a vehicle belonging to the Boys' Training Farm, wffich was stand, ing in a local stable. When questioned by the police defendant said, it had been given to him by a stableman. Defendant in evidence said he took the lamp from a tra.p which he thought belonged to a neighbour of his. Next morning he found it did not belong to his neighbour and he intended' to ttako it back. He admitted that his statement regarding the stableman was not correct, but saidi ihe was "flurried" wfhen questioned by the poilioe. A conviction ancl fine of £2 was recorded with costs I2s.
