Play was brisk " last -week on the golf links. Advantage was taken of the fine weather to play off matchcs. Th© final for Mi--Sherl«.w'K goAd- button was won by Mrs Porter, the scores being; Mrs Poirter, 67-20-47; Mre Mackenzie, CO—s—ss.
Tlie tie for Mrs Mackenzie's prize was ployed off, and avas won by Mr Noble, the scorer-! being:: Mr .Noble 55—5—50; Mr Sherlaw, 84—16—68. The final for ithe iLndies' Championsliip will be played; to-morrow afternoon between Mrs Clark and Mrn Mao kenssie.
The first round of the Men's Championship is bedug played and is exciting considerable interest. The only cara handed in so far iri the round is by Messrs Porter and Noble. Mr Porter won the first six holes in succession, Mr Noble w.innig the next six, andiMr Porter winning tiliie round bytwo'up and 1- to play. , . \ '
