The French have occupied Chaiilnes. The British have reached the outskirts of Haucourt and have made a four-mile advance in Flanders astride the Neuf \erquin-Estaires road. The British have completed the capture of 1 rones wood (an important position on the Somme front), and are reported to be driving" east of Oppy and Gavrelle, east of Arras. General March announces that the Allied prisoners to date exceed 112,000, while 1300 cannon have bccu capuu -d. Received 10 a.m. General Mangin's troops have crossed the Aiiette river. Rain is delaying the British advance. The New Zeaianders form a half-moon around Bapaume, The Germans are bringing up heavy reinforcements.
