BEST BRITISH BLOW TO DATE. AIR SUPREMACY WORRIES HUNS. Received this day, 11.5 a.m.* London, August 9. The advance is still progressing. I/ate yesterday afternoon our cavalry, armoured ears and tanks reached the Framerville-Lilions line. This means an advance 'of eleven miles at its greatest' depth. The infantry advance is seven miles on an average of five or six over the whole front. Between nine and ten thousand prisoners were counted to yesterday. The Germans have now been driven beyond gun range of Amiens and they will be unable to stay on the Avre, where theii" line is completely outflanked on the north. The Geihnan position on Hie Aisne is not affected by the advance but the enemy can hardly stand on the Montdidier front which will undoubtedly be evacuated. The Germans continue to retire in the Lys salient (Flanders). Thov have withdrawn approximately 2000 yards on a front of six miles. Correspondents declare , that even the Messines battle did not equal yesterday's brilliant success. A txerm a n officer's captured diary frankly and bitterly admits thV> Allies'-air supremacy. It says: "The dropping of bombs is.past all counting. Day and niffht with clockwork regularity they come from a height well beyond reach of our anti-aircraft guns.
