Military Appeal Board.
The Military Appeal Board Jia*s been sitting in Palmerston this week. Amongst the appeals heard were the following : Thomas Ilenry Powles, farmer, Oliau, stated that he was aged 43, with two children. One brother was at the front and the other was an invalid. Appellant carried on farming on a 450 acre property During the last three years 425 tons of beef were supplied to one company. Appellant supervised the property, and personally did the draining and fencing. One man was employed on the place. Decision was reserved sine die. William Henry Pink, farmer, Ohau, stated that his farm was 00 acres, carrying 30 dairy cows, which appellant milked, with the assistance of a boy from the Weraroa Training farm.—Adjourned till next sitting. Thomas William .Field, Levin. Adjourned till the September sitting. William Arthur Taylor (Mr Park), stated that lie was a married man with two children, and was dairy farming on a 50-acre property, carrying 25 eows._ He did all the work himself, and also j supervised a neighbour's property ' of 35 acres.—Decision was reservied sine die. John Henry Hunter, dairy farmer, Levin (Mr Park), stated his farm was 51J acres, L.1.P., 22 cows being milked by hand, the milk being sent to Wellington in the winter and to the factory in the summer. He and his wife did all the work on the farm. —Appeal adjourned till next sitting, i Alfred James Mark, farmer, | Levin, stated that- lie carried on farming on 36 acres of land. He had endeavoured to sell, but so far had had no satisfactory offers. Appeal dismissed, leave being granted to November. Eric S. Pees appealed on behalf of Henry D. N. Hutchins, manager of his bush farm eight y miles j from Levin. Appellant said his • far moonsisted of 825 acres, 045 j of which were felled and in grass. There was a large amount of fenc- : ing to be done on the place on < which at present there were 1200 sheep and 90 cattle. Hutcliins i did all the work with the help of a boy and some casual labour. He had'had the farm 21 years aud most of the stock had gone on. this year. One farmer there had ; lost 100 head of cattle in the. bush ■' through his farm not being fenced. Adjourned till next sitting.
