School Competitions.
Recently some competitions were conducted in connection with the British Empire Rhyming Trades Alphabet.. The report of the examiuer on the papers sent in by schoolchildren in this dii trict was as. follows: Among* the large number of papers received for these competitions were a very good selection from the children attending the Levin District High School. The handwriting oi the children in the upper standards at this school is very clear and legi jble in style, and. the papers have been prepared with characteristic neatness. Prizes are awarded ai follows, all being Levin children except where otherwise stated : Trades Alphabet.-—Standards 5 to 7: May McAllister 1, Edna Pink 2, Norma Barrow 3, V, Hislop 4, Ella Bertram 5. Stan dards 3 to 4: Connie Grooine 1, Douglas Fox 2, E. Hughes 3, Dora Tomlinson 4, P. Bertram 5. Stan dards 1 to 2 : T. Collier 1, P. Wil liams 2, Ken. Batt 3, Lance Peter sen (Shannon) 4, J. Tukupua 5. Specials, Messrs Dean and Rawson, Levin (Letter 1 and words): Edna Pink. Messrs Stiles and Matheson, Ltd.—High School, _ Standard 7 ■and above: May McAllister.
