AMERICANS THE GREATEST FACTOR. Received this day, 10.15 a.jn. London, July yl. General Maurice says it was never a question of pinching out. the Germans in the Mame salient or of the Allies making a large capture of prisoners. The great est German difficulty had been the breakdown of communications and the Allied pressure not allow ing relief for t ! h • exhausted troops The dasli and energy of the Americans also has been the great estfactor. While tbe other ar mies are all more or less weaary with a high proportion of lads or middle aged men, the Americans are composed of the pick of the manhood of a great nation. It is doubtful whether tbe ene my has as yet got his completed defensive line on the Ardre or the Yesle, and is still trying to gain tim, bence his sacrifice of men in counter attacks.
